types of surfing

surfing:
Classic surfing is based on paddling a wave, standing up and performing a series of turns, maneuvers and tricks, thanks to the push of the wave itself.
There are three categories depending on the type of surfboard we use:

-Shortboard:
It is based on performing maneuvers and sudden turns on the board in waves of different sizes and profiles, allowing greater control over the wave, ducking under the waves and performing more difficult tricks.

-Funboard:
They have greater maneuverability, more stability and buoyancy making them perfect to start surfing in a surf course.

-Longboard:
In these tables the maneuvers are quite different, since variations of the position of the feet are made and not only of the weight of our body. In this way we ourselves walk on the board and perform different tricks.

Paddle surf/SUP:
It consists of surfing standing up on a long and larger board with the help of an oar. In this way, it allows us to increase speed and maneuver in a simple way by using the oar as a rudder.

Bodyboard:
It consists of the use of a board smaller than the traditional one and without fins, being the so-called bodyboard.
Within this type of surfing there are 3 modalities:

-Prone:
In this type of bodyboard we will go completely lying down.

-Drop-knee:
This variation consists of kneeling on one leg.

-Stand up:
This type of bodyboard is similar to surfing with a shortboard, since it consists of standing on the "body".

Bodysurf:
It could be said that he is the father of surfing and all its variants. In this sport, unlike in the rest of the modalities, we do not have a table. We only use fins and our own body to gain speed with the force of the waves. Although it is true, it is possible to use "handboards", small boards that are incorporated in the hands to generate more sliding surface in the wave.

Kayak surf:
It consists of standing in the kayak, this sport has the advantage of offering great maneuverability, since the kayak slides easily over the waves and with the help of the paddle it allows us to make sharp turns, increase speed and perform maneuvers.

Kitesurf:
It is a sport in which on a surfboard or on skis and with a kite propelled by the wind we can perform jumps, maneuvers and turns. This type of surfing is common in places where the wind prevails and there are not many waves.

Windsurf:
If the thing is about mixtures, and we take a board and a sailboat we get windsurfing, which incorporates a sail on a board quite similar to a surfboard. The sail is articulated, which allows a total rotation on the axis, being able to drive the board in the direction we want. This construction makes it possible to take full advantage of the direction of the wind and perform unique pirouettes, but we must be completely in balance at all times, aware of the changes in the gusts of wind and the space around us.

Skimboarding:
Skimboarding is born from the mix of surfing with skateboarding.
To practice skimboarding we will stand a few steps from the shore holding a very light and resistant fiberglass board with one hand, we will wait for the wave and once a good quality "shore" wave is ready to come towards us, we will run towards her while we launch our board perpendicular to said wave, getting up on it, for this type of surfing we will need a lot of precision and skill, to be able to control the tempo of the wave, amazing tricks can be performed.
